Low Vision is a reduction in vision.  Having "low vision" pertains to having a level of vision that is not satisfactory for doing the activities that are necessary or enjoyable throughout the day.   Low vision is defined as a condition in which a person's vision cannot be fully corrected by glasses, medication or surgery and hinders daily activities such as reading, writing, watching television and driving.  Low vision is more common among seniors, but it can occur in individuals of any age as a result of such vision limiting conditions as macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetes.
Prevalence of Low Vision, NEI
The National Eye Institute defines low vision as the best-corrected visual acuity less than 20/40 vision in the better-seeing eye.  They estimate the number of people with low vision to be over 3 million by 2020.

The Hope and Wonder of Sight

Advances and innovations in miniaturized telescopes and high-power lenses allow for specialized eyeglasses to offer therapy and new hope for many low vision sufferers who have given up on ever seeing better. These glasses are now more accessible and easier to use for those who need them.

Telescopic eyeglasses are miniaturized prescription-based binoculars that are designed into specialized frames in different positions according to the needs of the patient. Microscopic spectacles are high-power magnifying eyeglasses that combine a patient’s regular eyeglass prescription with the magnification needed to see things up close and participate in activities like reading, knitting, sewing and even tying fishing flies. They look somewhat different from regular glasses by utilizing several lenses. They provide the adequate amount of correction needed to help those with even severe vision loss regain some eyesight.

  1. My husband was diagnosed with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) four years ago. For over two years, we relied on prescription medications and therapies, but unfortunately, his symptoms continued to worsen. His memory, coordination, and overall strength declined, and everyday life became increasingly difficult.Last year, out of desperation and hope, we decided to try an herbal treatment program from NaturePath Herbal Clinic. Honestly, we were skeptical at first, but within a few months of starting the treatment, we began to notice real changes. His alertness improved, his movements became steadier, and he regained a surprising amount of energy and clarity.
Incredibly, he also regained much of his independence and confidence. It’s been a life-changing experience he feels more like himself again, better than he had in years. If you or a loved one is struggling with CJD, I truly recommend looking into their natural approach.
